Unit Overview
The Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR) is a secretive UK Special Forces unit specializing in covert surveillance, close target reconnaissance, and intelligence gathering in high-risk environments.
Formed in response to modern asymmetric threats, the SRR operates under the UK Special Forces command alongside the SAS and SBS. Their existence was only officially acknowledged in 2004, making them the newest UKSF unit.

Known Operations
SRR conducted surveillance operations against insurgent networks in Iraq and provided intelligence for targeted operations.
Covert reconnaissance missions against Taliban leadership and drug trafficking networks supporting insurgency.
Domestic and international surveillance of terrorist suspects in support of MI5 and counter-terrorism police.
CLASSIFIED: Recruitment & Methods
SRR recruits from all three services but particularly values linguists, signals experts, and surveillance specialists. Candidates undergo joint UKSF selection followed by specialized training in advanced surveillance techniques, including long-term covert operations and technical intelligence gathering.
The regiment employs both male and female operators for greater operational flexibility. Operators are trained in deep cover operations, often working in civilian clothing and using non-standard vehicles and equipment to avoid detection while conducting surveillance in denied areas.
