Unit Overview
The Special Air Service (SAS) is a special forces unit of the British Army, founded in 1941 during World War II. The 22 SAS Regiment is the regular component under UK Special Forces command.
The SAS pioneered modern special operations tactics including deep penetration raids, counter-terrorism, and hostage rescue. They serve as the model for many special forces units worldwide and maintain extreme operational secrecy.

CLASSIFIED: Selection & Structure
SAS selection, known as “The Course,” lasts about 6 months and is considered one of the world’s most difficult military selections. It includes the infamous “Fan Dance” endurance test and “Escape and Evasion” phase with interrogation resistance training.
The 22 SAS Regiment consists of 4 operational squadrons (A, B, D, G), each specializing in different insertion methods: Boat, Air, Mobility, and Mountain. Each squadron contains 4 troops (16 men each) with further specializations: Air, Boat, Mobility, and Mountain.
